What’s the “latest web technology”? Web 3.0.It was first raised by Jhon Markoff in 2006. It is believed to be the next generation (Generasi Baru) of the internet that will begin in the year 2015. But the definition and technology have been in development. It has broken the barrier between the IT world and the telecommunications world.
Web 3.0 is associated with the term intelligent web. Its main purpose is to maximize the utilization, productivity and convenience of Internet users through the availability of machine-facilitated understanding of information. I’ll start off with an example, the task given to my class for our blog project by our dear Mr. Andrew. The task, to find articles in Malay, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, or Tamil based on our topics, translate and summarize it into an article. Take my classmate’s group for example, their topic is Web Server. Type in “Web server articles in Korean” into Google’s search box and I got nearly 9 million results. The first 10 results were absolutely irrelevant. (FYI, I’m aware of the filter option). With Web 3.0 however, I will be presented with results of Web Server articles in Korean only.
Another name for Web 3.0 is the Semantic Web. It refers to the ability of computers to understand our language. To be specific only colloquial language will be used to interact with the computer.
Would the latest web tech make your life easier?
